Stefan sent in pics and info on his sweet VW 4×4 van. This is an excellent platform any overland journey.
From the owner:
It’s a Dutch 4X4 conversion of a VW LT 45, under license of Suelzer. Using Hurth axles, just as VW did later on, and originally an NP219 t-case. Mine now has a NP231, I’m looking for a NP242. I think Suelzer used Dana axles and t-case. The “De Vries” conversion could be ordered at the VW-dealer. I have no idea how many were built, VW Holland doesn’t know either. It was used as a fieldtester and only did 40,000km up to 2002. Former owner travelled the world with it, giving it an extra 100,000km. So, now it’s my turn, it needs some attention…
